Dana Lieber
Matan Gal

Dana graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in 2016. After graduation, she joined HQ Architects and participated in several design processes. Between 2017-2021, Dana was a staff member at Bar Orian Architects and was responsible for unique preserved buildings and residential projects in Tel Aviv.

In addition to her work in architecture, Dana also participates in the design development process of prototypes for her family's business, Doron Furniture.

In 2023, Dana achieved her M.S. in Historic Preservation from GSAPP Columbia University in NYC. Her thesis project explores building materials as storytellers within the Israel-Palestine region and includes a case study of the Givat Ram campus, which is defined by its concrete and limestone presence. Co-advisors for her thesis were Prof. Mark Wigley and Prof. Amanda Trienens, with Prof. Jorge Otero-Pailos and Prof. Zvi Efrat as readers.

Dana also collaborated with the Preservation Technology Lab during her studies as a lab assistant and editor of the materials video series for the Historic Preservation program.

Matan graduated with honors from Bezalel Academy in 2018, and received several awards for excellence in his final project, including third prize in Azirelli's annual competition for the best academic final projects. That same year, he also won third prize in the Israeli Design Award for the conceptual projects category and was selected to present at the UIA Rio 2020 conference.

Before pursuing architecture, Matan began his career at Landmann Aluminum, a facade consulting company. He later gained significant experience by working for prestigious international design firms, including REX Architects, Foster & Partners, studio PEZ, and Tsionov-Vitkon. Matan was involved in several high-profile public sector projects, such as the Mayo Clinic new hospital in Rochester, Minnesota (Foster & Partners); DY Patil Hospital in Mumbai, India (Foster & Partners); the Brisbane commercial tower at 205 North Quay, Australia (REX); residential towers in Domino Park (REX); the Broadcom research facility at Tel Aviv University (PEZ); and the architecture faculty building at Tel Aviv University (Tsionov-Vitkon).

Additionally, between 2019 and 2021, Matan taught at Bezalel Academy alongside Professor Zvi Efrat and ran his own studio course during that time.

Dana and Matan have been collaborating since their academic studies in 2014. Together, they have established Lieber-Gal as a research and design practice. Their goal is to create a cohesive narrative by using an experimental approach, in order to achieve a unique and comprehensive outcome for each project.
